Penny Shreve launched her career in the publishing industry as a teenager in southern Indiana, writing high school sports stories for the county’s newspaper. That was the beginning of a lifelong connection to community journalism and led to the launch of her own local magazine in 2012.

With Penny Shreve Publishing comes a new venture into originally-designed coloring books, stickers, phone cases, laptop sleeves, puzzles and more. 

“I have always enjoyed relaxing with adult coloring books, but became frustrated that I was never fond of more than a few images in any given book. I decided to design my own Christmas coloring book, and I liked it,” she explained. “That made me wonder if others may enjoy the same book; thus, this business was launched.”

Along with that idea came the Sports Ablaze line—another area of interest that’s close to her heart.

“I have always loved sports, and my daughter grew up playing basketball. If I’d known about products like the ones I now offer when she was in school, I’d have bought them,” Shreve said. “So again, I thought that others may enjoy these products, too.”

While creating those items, she received input from family and friends and expanded the line to include other images of interest such as dresses, flowers, sceneries, and additional designs that would appeal to a wider range of people.

“What’s more, if a customer wants a certain product that we don’t offer or has a preferred color, school mascot, or image that they’d like for us to try, they can contact us with that request,” she said. “We’ll take a crack at it, free of charge, and see what we come up with.”
